Warrnambool fencing & retaining
A good fence should sit straight and true for years, and a retaining wall has to do a serious structural job quietly in the background. HRB Border Construction builds both across Warrnambool and South West Victoria — and because Harry is a registered builder, they're built properly, to code, with the details that decide how long they last.
With fencing, it's the posts — the right depth, the right footings, and correct spacing — that keep a fence upright through wind and time. With retaining walls, it's even more important: proper footings, the right materials for the load, and above all good drainage behind the wall, because water pressure is what causes retaining walls to bulge and fail.
We take the time to get that groundwork right, then finish the job neatly so it looks as good as it performs. Whether you need a new boundary fence, a privacy screen, a gate, or a sleeper or block retaining wall to make a sloping block usable, we handle it end to end and bring in engineering where the height or load calls for it.

Costs & guide
Fencing is usually priced per lineal metre and retaining per square metre of wall face. These guide ranges help you plan — every job is quoted in full before we begin.
A standard timber paling boundary fence, supplied and installed on level ground.
Taller, slatted or feature fencing, and fences on sloping or difficult sites.
Sleeper and block retaining walls with footings and drainage; higher for engineered walls.
Guide ranges only — your quote depends on the fence type and height, the retaining material, ground conditions, drainage and any engineering required. We price every job in full up front.

Questions
Fencing is usually priced per lineal metre and depends on the type of fence, its height, and the ground it's going into. As a guide, a standard timber paling fence typically runs from around $110–$180 per lineal metre supplied and installed, with feature fencing, taller fences and difficult or sloping sites costing more. We measure up and quote every job in full before we start.
Most standard boundary fences don't need a permit, but retaining walls above a certain height — often around one metre — usually require engineering and a building permit, especially where they support a load or a structure above. As a registered builder we can advise what your project needs and make sure it's built to code.
Low retaining walls are straightforward, but once a wall gets taller it needs proper engineering, footings, drainage and often a permit. We build sleeper and block retaining walls of all sizes and will bring in engineering where the height or load requires it, so the wall is safe and holds for the long term.
We build timber paling and boundary fences, feature and privacy screens, gates, and pool-compliant fencing, as well as sleeper and block retaining walls. If it's a fence or a wall that needs to be straight, solid and built to last, we can help.
Yes. HRB Border Construction is led by Harry, a registered builder. Your fence or retaining wall is built with proper footings, drainage and — where needed — engineering, to code. That matters most for retaining walls, where a poorly built wall can fail.
We build fencing and retaining walls across Warrnambool and throughout South West Victoria, including Port Fairy, Koroit, Allansford, Terang, Camperdown, Timboon, Colac, Portland and Hamilton.
